G1 winner nominated for Murray Bridge Cup

Group 1 winning Victorian galloper Begood Toya Mother headlines nominations for Friday’s $107,250 Murray Bridge Gold Cup (1600m).

The Daniel Bowman-trained gelding won the 2019 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and comes off a solid effort when runner-up in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes.

Will Clarken has nominated both Ironclad and Second Slip for the feature. Second Slip finished seventh in Saturday’s Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield, while there is a strong local representation.

John Hickmott and Carrina Riggs have three nominations – Classy Joe, Frances Boy and Magnetic Edge. Local trainer Michael Hickmott has smart former Kiwi Lord Vladivostok while Mick Huxtable has Ritratto and Perfect Route entered.

Stuart Padman’s impressive last-start Morphettville winner Morialta is also among the 27 nominations.
