Thoroughbred Racing SA Limited (TRSA) is aware that Racing Victoria published a warning on 19 June 2018 regarding veterinary prescription animal remedies containing the progestagen altrenogest, used to control the cyclic activity of fillies and mares.
It has been recently discovered that certain batches of altrenogest products may contain levels of trenbolone and/or trendione.
Racing Victoria advised that they are liaising with manufacturers to clarify the situation and that they will provide results of their work in this regard.
TRSA advise trainers (and their veterinarians) to immediately stop the use of products that contain altrenogest.
